Roos Stay Unbeaten, Lady Dawgs Win

The Killeen Kangaroos ran their district record to 2-0 with a narrow 10-7 victory over the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Monday at Hallmark Lanes. The Roos opened up a 6-1 lead after match play behind Josh Morgan (224 average) and Mitchell Salak. The Dawgs came back to win 3 or 4 team games, but could not overcome the Roos’ total pins advantage in the final game. Vicent Norton and Kevin Williams both averaged over 200 for the Bulldawgs (0-2 in district play).

The Lady Dawgs evened their record at 1-1 with an 11-6 victory over the Lady Roos. Jamie Reed led Cove to a 5-2 lead after match play. The teams split the four team games with Cove winning total pins. Brittanie McGhee, the lone returning starter for the Lady Roos, led Killeen (1-1) in scoring.

Grey Wolves Top Lampasas

The Shoemaker Grey Wolves rolled to a 16-1 victory against Lampasas Monday at Killeen Bowlerama. Eric Medina and Jerry Green led the Wolves in scoring while John Carroll again was high for the Badgers. With the win, Shoemaker evened their district record at 1-1. Elisha Thomas topped the Lady Grey Wolves (2-0) in a walkover.

Knights/Eagles Split

In an early season match-up of district favorites, the Harker Heights Knights edged the Ellison Eagles 10-7 Tuesday at Hallmark Lanes. The Knights jumped out to a 6-1 lead after match play behind Javon Stanford (224 average). In team play, the Eagles came back and had a chance to win, but fell 207-199 in the 3rd game. Jordan Watkins led the Eagles (1-1), averaging 218.

The defending state runner-up Lady Knights fell to 0-2 in district play. The Lady Eagles, behind Ashley Staten and Chelsea Evans, rolled to a 16-1 victory. Ellison (2-0) swept the team games and lost just one match play point. Danielle Shea led the Lady Knights in scoring.
