Lady Eagles Take District Lead in Ellison Sweep

In a battle of unbeatens, Ellison’s Lady Eagles (3-0) took the district lead with a 14-3 victory over the Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves Monday at Hallmark Lanes.  Ellison took a 6-1 lead after match play although each match was tightly contested and could have gone either way.  Chelsea Evans and Ashley Staten led Ellison in scoring.  The Lady Eagles then took the first two team games by a total of 11 pins to seal the victory before splitting the final two games.  Dawn Sanchez and Briana Hewitt led Shoemaker (2-1).

The boys match, Ellison’s big guns were too much for the Grey Wolves.  Four Eagles averaged over 190, led by Angel Morales (222 average), Jordan Watkins, Brandon Williams and David Heironimczak to sweep match play.  Ellison then averaged 184 to sweep the team games for a 17-0 shutout of Shoemaker.  The Eagles improved to 2-1 while Shoemaker, who was led by Regine Ross and Jerry Green, fell to 1-2.

Roos/Knights

The Harker Heights Knights remained unbeaten (3-0) and took undisputed possession of the district lead with a 15-2 victory over the Killeen Kangaroos Tuesday at Killeen Bowlerama.  The final score again was not indicative of how close the match was.  The Knights took a 5-2 lead after match play behind Donald James and Keith Guerrero.  Heights then swept the team games, but each game was decided in the final frame with only 40 pins separating the two teams.  Josh Morgan averaged 237 to led the Roos, who fell to 2-1 in district play.

The Lady Knights got in the win column in convincing fashion with a 17-0 shutout of the Lady Roos.  Danielle Shea again led Heights (1-2) in scoring while Mariah Ham led Killeen (1-2).
