Eagles Pound Dawgs in Season Opener
The Ellison
Eagles opened defense of their district title with a convincing 16-1 victory
over the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs Monday at Hallmark Lanes. The Eagles, who went undefeated in district
play last season, lost their entire lineup to graduation, but didn’t miss a
beat. Jordan Watkins averaged 200 to
lead the Eagles to a 6-1 lead after match play.
Ellison then averaged 195 to sweep the team games. Kevin Williams averaged 210 in winning Cove’s
lone point.
The Lady Eagles were
just as impressive. Cindy Gill averaged
208 to lead the Lady Eagles to an identical 16-1 win. Ironically, Gill lost her point to Cove’s
Jaime Reed, who averaged 219. Ellison
led 6-1 after match play then averaged 176 to sweep the team games. Ashley Staten and Devin Revels provided
plenty of help for the Lady Eagles.
The Eagles will host
Harker Heights next Tuesday at Hallmark Lanes in an early season matchup of
district favorites.

Roos Top Lampasas
The
Killeen Kangaroos rolled to a 17-0 victory against Lampasas Tuesday at Killeen
Bowlerama. Josh Morgan and Mitchell Salak
led the Roos in scoring while John Carroll was high for the Badgers. Courtney Lopez topped the Lady Roos in a
walkover.

Heights, Shoemaker Split Season Opener
In an
early season match-up of district favorites, Shoemaker’s Lady Grey Wolves
served notice they will be a tough out with a convincing 14-3 victory over the
Harker Heights Lady Knights Tuesday at Killeen Bowlerama. Briana Hewitt and Rechanale Lockett led
Shoemaker to a 6-1 lead after match play.
The Lady Wolves then took the first three team games to seal the
victory. Danielle Shea and Shelby O’Rourke
led the Lady Knights.
The Harker Heights boys
swept Shoemaker in match play, led by Donald James and Trevor Baum, who each
averaged over 220. The Knights took 3 of
4 team games for a 15-2 victory. Regine Ross
led the Grey Wolves in scoring.
