Knights Capture District Crown

The Harker Heights Knights won their first boys district crown with a 13-4 victory over the Killeen Kangaroos Tuesday at Killeen Bowlerama.  The Knights remain undefeated at 8-0 while 2nd place Killeen fell to 5-3 with two matches remaining.  Ryan Weeks led another balanced attack for Heights which led 5-2 after match play, then took 3 of 4 team games.  Josh Morgan of Killeen fired one of the highest two-game series ever, posting a 526 series, a 263 average.  Mitchell Salak averaged 202 for the Roos.

The Lady Knights (5-3) also clinched a playoff berth with a 13-4 victory over the Lady Roos.  Danielle Shea again topped Heights, but got plenty of help from Shelby O’Rourke.  The Lady Roos fell to 3-5 and were led in scoring by Courtney Lopez.

With 2 matches remaining Shoemaker, Ellison and Harker Heights have clinched playoff spots in the girls division while the boys picture is still a toss-up.  Shoemaker, Ellison and Killeen still have a shot at the two final playoff spots.  Ellison hosts Killeen next Wednesday at Hallmark Lanes and Shoemaker hosts the Roos on Feb. 13, also at Hallmark Lanes.
