Lady Wolves Clinch Tie for District Title

The Shoemaker Lady Grey Wolves clinched at least a tie for the district title with a 15-2 victory over the Copperas Dove Bulldawgs Monday at Hallmark Lanes.  Elisha Thomas and Briana Hewitt led Shoemaker (8-1) to a 5-2 lead after match play.  The Lady Wolves then swept the team games.  Jamie Reed led the Lady Dawgs, who fell to 3-6.

The Grey Wolves raised their record to 6-3 with a 13-4 victory over Cove that was much closer than the final score indicated.  Shoemaker led 5-2 after match play and won 3 of 4 team games, but each game came down to the final frame to determine the winner.  Eric Medina and Regine Ross led the Grey Wolves while Kevin Williams and Zach Stewart topped the Dawgs (2-7) in scoring.

Roos Eliminate Eagles

The Killeen Kangaroos rallied from a 6-1 deficit after match play to take a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Ellison Eagles Wednesday at Hallmark Lanes.  The Eagles’ Angel Morales led a strong, balanced attack that averaged over 184 in the match play round.  However, the Roos came back strong winning the first 3 team games to take a 7-6 lead.  Although the Eagles won the final game 222-167, they could not overcome the total pins deficit to stay alive in the playoff race.  Josh Morgan and Mitchell Salak led the Roos, who raised their record to 6-3 to tie Shoemaker for 2nd place in district play.  The two teams will meet next Wednesday at Hallmark Lanes to determine the second seed.  Ellison fell to 4-5.

Cindy Gill and Devin Revels led the Lady Eagles to a convincing 15-2 victory over the Lady Roos.  Ellison swept the match play round and lost only the 3rd team game after the match had been decided.  With the win, the Lady Eagles (7-2) remain only 1 game behind district-leading Shoemaker and can finish no lower than 2nd place.  Courtney Lopez led Killeen, who fell to 3-6.
